The most important takeaway in this Cracked article about Thanksgiving/Black Friday is that most of the "traditions" you hold so dear were set up by government decree just a few decades ago (and un-set, and re-set, etc etc). I love stuff like that. Everything is arbitrary; nothing is sacred.
